RECAP OF 2006 WALK

With your help, I raised $3,999 !!!!! Thank you very much for your generous support of my walk.

Day 1 dawned grey and drizzly, but the enthusiasm of the walkers was not dampened. We started the walk at 7:00 am at South Street Seaport. We crossed lower Manhattan, passing Ground Zero to the West Side promenade. We walked all the way to Fort Tyron Park, the half way point (13.1 miles).   Read story--> Click here.

PLEASE SPONSOR MY 2007 WALK

On the weekend of October 6 and 7, I will be participating in the 39 mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The walk will take us through New York City.

My walk is dedicated to family and friends who have lost their fight against this devastating disease and to those who have fought and won!

I'm one of many people in the NY Metro area who will be walking to raise funds for the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade and support their mission of providing access to care and finding a cure.

My goal is to raise $5,000 ! This represents 100 mammograms for women who otherwise could not afford one.

I can't do that without your help.  In fact, I'm going to need support from many people to reach my goal, and I'm hoping that I can count on you to be part of my team. Make an online donation through Avon's secure website.

WHY AM I WALKING ?

For family and friends who have lost their fight, and those who have won, including my mother who is cancer free 6 years post diagnosis and treatment.

For numerous colleagues who were diagnosed with breast cancer.

In hopes that no one else will have to hear "Your test results show that you have breast cancer".

THE ROAD TO WALK 2007

The first step on the road to Avon Walk 2007

Jane and I attended the kick off meeting at NY Columbia Presbyterian hospital in NY. The room was packed with people learning about this year's walk. We even saw a familiar face from last year - Kelley Borer, our walker buddy.

We are looking forward to fundraising, training, and ultimately walking in October.

2007 AVON WALK FOR BREAST CANCER: Introduction Meeting

We had a great turn out for the intro meeting held on March 28. Nineteen ladies came out to learn about the walk. Kelley Borer from the New York office presented lots of information.

First training walk of the 2007 season - April 5

Despite the fact that we are in April, the weather today was more like early March, including snow showers.  Jane and I braved the cold and walked 5.5 miles. A good start to the new training program.

Even more startling, breast cancer kills approximately one woman every 14 minutes, robbing us of our mothers and grandmothers, our sisters and aunts, cousins and best friends.

Take this opportunity to honor the women you love by donating to the cause. Give whatever you can - every dollar really does help.  Make an online donation through Avon's secure website.
