Marathon walking

Its all about the socks

After completing a number of training walks, I have concluded the most important piece of equipment is the socks.  I have tried a few different ones and the best so far are the trail running socks from Balega.  A little pricey compared to the socks I usually buy at Kohl's, but well worth it.  No blisters, no rubbing and lots of cushion. http://www.balegasports.com/trail-running.asp

Sneakers

Finally, a shoe store where the clerks know something about the product.  They even measure your feet and look at your old shoes to determine which shoe is best for your foot and walking/running style.   And you don't pay extra for this service.  The shoes were competitively prices with the "mall stores". http://www.fleetfeet.com/
